PiPEllA creates exceptional beauty on original single, "Life As A Movie"
Celebrating the release of her second single ever “Life As A Movie”, PiPEllA has shared something seriously exceptional. Please read on for our glowing review of the track, in addition to a much needed background on this talented artist.
Released officially on October 25th, 2022, PiPEllA has truly outdone herself on her second single, “Life As A Movie”. Transcending genre and standing out completely on its own, it infuses elements of fantasy and cinematic tones that do embody indie folk in a way. Led by her expressive vocals and bombastic drums, it’s a lyric-forward song that we’ve honestly been addicted to since we first discovered it. Needless to say, we’re recommending everyone out there give this a spin as soon as you can.
Now having had the opportunity to listen to her debut single “Emot!onal”, she’s clearly pivoted her sound and style into something more that aligns with our personal preferences. Both certainly pop roots attached to them, but as soon as you hit the play button on “Life As A Movie”, you’re instantly immersed into this little atmospheric world that PiPEllA has created for you. The word “movie” is in the title itself obviously, but hearing this at the most climactic moment of a film would not feel out of place in the slightest. Due to some of the more experimental aspects in the production, all of which we adore, your interest is naturally piqued from start to finish. On the background of it all thematically, PiPEllA says that “she wanted to write a song about what it might be like to romanticize your own life the way you would a spectacular movie”. We can fully consider that goal achieved after listening multiple times.
As this is actually the start of a project from PiPEllA, one that will feature a total of 11 tracks, we’re thrilled to be able to listen to more as they trickle out over time. There were so many major highlights during our listen, most of which we think you’ll feel the same, but her vocals and the sheer originality overall has to be the top.
