Ori Taggart shares an immense listening experience on remastered record, "Glass Window Demo Tape 1.2"
Sincerely one of the most experimental and out there releases that’s been sent our way in a while, we can’t help but love the latest version of Ori Taggart’s record, Glass Window Demo Tape 1.2. Read on for a closer look into the record, as well as a background on this talented artist.
For those potentially out of the loop, Ori Taggart is a multidimensional artist and composer currently based out of Montreal, Quebec. Providing a remastered version of this record, which was originally released in October of 2021, he fine tuned his work and somehow managed to put out an even more polished product. This certainly breaks the mold from traditional records that we review, but with that being said, we’re completely urging everyone to get out of their comfort zones and to give this a close and focused listen.
Taking direct influence and inspiration from Shin Megami Tensei, Sonic, and various anime, Ori Taggart only used those as jumping off points to take all impending listeners down a rabbit hole of incredible theatrics. Coming in at 14 total tracks that continuously think outside the box and promote connecting the dots with all that’s displayed, a majority of these tracks feel like standalone listens that could either be applied within video games, intense film scenes, and beyond. A major recommendation we’d give is to listen to this with a nice pair of headphones or sound system, primarily because so much of this record’s greatness comes in the subtleties of the production. You’d be losing out on the cinematic value in any other experience. It’s one of those albums that pushes you to tune out the world around and focus on the artistic subject matter.
Among seemingly infinite high points, the versatility, breadth of atmosphere, and sheer ingenuity rise to the top. Labeling this as a specific style of genre would almost be a waste of time, mainly because it feels like something completely unique to itself. Some specific tracks feel suspenseful and dreary, whereas others give off more of an upbeat and vibrant approach. From our standpoint, it feels as though Ori could be given any challenge in the world musically and he’d shoot above and beyond to give it his signature essence all the while creating something that’s yet to be heard. There weren’t any standout singles that we’d recommend, rather you’d be missing out if you didn’t start at the top and let this run through uninterrupted.
