Olivia Morreale delivers the total package on slow burner, "Wasting Daylight"
It’s not often a song grips us as quickly as Olivia Morreale’s “Wasting Daylight” has, so it would be a total shame if you didn’t read our glowing review of the song and artist below. This is one you won’t want to miss.
What is essentially a simple love song on the outside, ultimately reveals itself to be a slow burner of a track that has served as the perfect introduction to Olivia Morreale. Featuring a refrained yet subtle horns section and a completely breathtaking vocal performance from this artist, it would legitimately be impossible to nitpick anything negative about her latest, “Wasting Daylight”.
With a music video set to accompany the song on Valentine’s Day (directed by Sofie Somoroff), this is a full artistic package that’s set the tone for a lifetime of easy going jams just like this. Immediately, Olivia lulls you into an atmospheric cloud of emotion and passion that doesn’t let go until the final moments and notes. Inspired by the greats like Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald, this musician has brought her own freshness and revitalization into a genre that’s needed it so badly.
Taking her jazz background and seamlessly fusing that into a pop-centric song like this was the ideal stylistic choice, but it’s really so much more than that. The way that the production meets the mixing was masterful, but let’s not forget that the constant of it all is Olivia’s vocals. Seriously, wow, the way she’s created such a dynamic feeling on a four minute song is appalling. As mentioned, this was our introduction to her music, but it sparked that interest to go deeper and climb down the rabbit hole of everything else she’s ever made or been a part of. We’ve got a sneaking suspicion that you’ll feel the same once you give this a proper listen.
With all that being said, we’ve got nothing more to say other than we urge everyone to check out those links below. You can follow along, listen, and stay tuned for what we’re assuming is going to be her biggest year yet. Don’t miss it!
