Nita Chawla gives a remarkable vocal performance on "Cross The Line"
Released just last week on March 19th, 2021, Nita Chawla has put out a lovely new single titled “Cross The Line”. Read along with us as we break down our thoughts on the track, in addition to a background and insight on the artist.
Kicking off her musical journey at the young age of 3, Nita Chawla has paved her own path in artistry in many different ways. Performing across the world at a multitude of venues, her overall sound is reminiscent of Norah Janes, Tori Amos, and Kelly Clarkson, although she brings a signature style of her own to the table as well. “Cross The Line” was an instant love for us and we highly recommend a listen.
An “urban girl with Southern heart and Eastern roots”, Nita’s crown jewel of talent comes in the form of her soulful and soft-spoken vocals. What immediately took us by hold on our first listen of “Cross The Line” didn’t let go until the final notes. Joining and harmonizing on background vocals was the also talented Sirsa Shekim who helped to add a layer of depth in sound that took the song to its next level.
According to the artist, this song is like a poem put to music and a call for breaking down the barriers between us. To be honest, we could not possibly agree more. Focusing directly on the vocals, Nita tells her tale within her lyricism that speaks to the audience as a whole. Wrapped up in beauty, atmospheric sounds, and a plucky guitar to keep the beat up, she’s managed to demonstrate a sense of purity and calming in this particular single. Seeing as though this was our first step into the world of Nita Chawla, it definitely won’t be our last as she’s got a growing discography that we can’t wait to start from the beginning.
For the most part, this was a classic singer songwriter performance that showed off the best parts of the performer. It didn’t play on fancy tricks or gimmicks in order to spark attention or grab the listener by hold in a cheesy way. Fact of the matter is that the talent we’ve seen from Nita shouldn’t really have to rely on that as her voice is all we really needed to get ourselves grabbed by the music. Overall this was a lyrically and vocally focused performance that although was nice instrumentally, would have taken away from the subtleties if there was too much happening in the background. Whether that was purposeful or not, it doesn’t really matter, because it turned out fantastic.
As mentioned above, this is absolutely a song and an artist we’re recommending you give a shot to. We’re personally interested in what comes next, and at this point, we’re just hoping the next release isn’t too far out. Enjoy!
