Nikko experiments on adventurous new EP, "Interstellar"

Filled to the brim with heart, soul, and seemingly infinite originality, Nikko has beyond hit the mark on an exceptional new EP titled Interstellar. Keep reading as we break down our thoughts on the record, as well as a closer look into this talented artist.

Nikko’s latest EP, Interstellar, is a cosmic journey that showcases the artist’s impressive musicality and penchant for experimentation. Born in Vail, Washington, Nikko’s earliest memories are of listening to James Brown, Van Halen, and Michael Jackson, and it’s clear that his musical influences span genres. Spanning styles with varied instrumentation too, this record truly takes the listener on a journey through many sounds. We’re excited for everyone out there to give it a spin as soon as possible.

The EP’s title track, Interstellar sets the tone for the entire project in the 2 spot, with a groovy intro that transports listeners to a different dimension. Nikko’s guitar work is intricate and expansive, and the song builds to a climactic finish that leaves the listener wanting more. On “Cast Out” Nikko’s vocals are front and center, showing off his vast range and emotive delivery. The song’s lyrics are introspective and relatable, speaking to the feeling of being lost and trying to find one’s way.

Nikko’s ability to wear different rhythms shines through on the entirety of the EP though as well. With syncopated beats, haunting melodies, and a really diverse range of showmanship, we positively think there isn’t any type of music he couldn’t attack that he wouldn’t excel on. The song’s instrumental breakdowns showcase Nikko’s guitar skills, with fun solos that are consistently intricate and soulful.

Closing out the EP is “Stay Clear” a slow-burning track that highlights the artist’s vulnerable side. The song’s stripped-down arrangement puts the focus on Nikko’s vocals and lyrics, which are honest and raw. Overall, Interstellar is a wonderful showcase of Nikko’s musical talent and vision. His willingness to experiment with different genres and sounds results in a cohesive project that takes the listener on a journey through space and time. Fans of guitar-driven music and thought-provoking lyrics will find plenty to enjoy on this EP.
