MMIV delivers big on his debut single, "The Drugs Are Running Out"

Exceeding all of our expectations on his debut single called “The Drugs Are Running Out”, we’re vibing big time with the music of MMIV. Read on for our in-depth look at the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.

After disbanding from his last project, MMIV ultimately made the right choice to push forward and go solo. Taking his talents and creating something upbeat and vibrant was always in the cards, however what he’s delivered on “The Drugs Are Running Out” has truly impressed us. Putting his own creative spin on indie rock, we sincerely can’t wait for everyone out there to click the play button on this.

Embracing his love for artists like LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads, and Phoebe Bridgers, you can feel the qualities of those projects come through seamlessly in on “The Drugs Are Running Out. Featuring a pulsating beat reminiscent of LCD, MMIV centers the single around his dynamic vocals that eventually became our favorite part of the song. Not to discount the flowing production, but the lightheartedness of his vocals are what really made this memorable.

With that being said though, let’s not dismiss the summery instrumentation that feels like it bridged the gap between rock and electronic. No matter where you fall on the musical spectrum, chances are you can find some part of this song that will get stuck in your head. We always like to say a reminder that for a debut single, it’s not crazy to sometimes feel underwhelmed. In this situation though, it’s created such a strong base for the future, and we’re personally invested at this point to see what exactly comes next. While we wouldn’t want too much of a genre departure, we’re always open to experimentation for the future.

Plain and simple though, MMIV has crushed this song and every moment surrounding it. At only three and a half minutes in length, it’s 100% going to be a song that we come back to to try to reach those original highs. While we wait for more, we suggest everyone out there go ahead and check out those links below in order to get listening and follow along for more. Enjoy!
