Giving listeners a taste of what’s to come ahead of the new record, Mike Montrey Band has made a statement with the fresh release of “I Can’t Wait Any Longer”. Please read on for our glowing review of the track and a much needed background on the project.

Fusing together an eclectic blend of Americana and classic Rock and Roll, singer and songwriter Mike Montrey is at the reins steering his band into the right direction. With an all new single out called “I Can’t Wait Any Longer”, the band is headed in a vibrant direction that we already can’t wait to hear more of. The album in question is titled Searching for My Soul, and by the sounds of it, everyone’s in for something special as the big release day comes closer.

With the help of Jen Augustine on the vocal side of things, the pair are hitting euphoric highs in this new endeavor. Backed up so elegantly by the band that’s highlighting the brass section and really making things pop within the production and mix, we’ve simply got no notes for anything we would change around. One thing we can say for sure is that we truly loved the initial vibe that the song gave us as it’s generally an optimistic outlook lyrically and things feel positive within the sound. Says Mike on the background of its creation, “Sometimes when I’m in the process of creating music and lyrics at the moment, it’s not readily apparent what the overall intent of the project or its possible theme and aesthetic will be”. While there may not have been a vision goal before, we can confidently say that the end product has delivered big!

We took the opportunity to listen to the band’s 2020 EP In the Middle of Hope and we sincerely enjoyed every moment of it, but like any great band, they continue to work towards new soundscapes and make minor pivots towards something even better. With that being said, Searching for My Soul is already shaping up to be something monumental within the band’s discography and this lead single has given us all the confidence we need to say that. The immense amount of passion and emotion just through three and a half minutes was divine, so here’s to the next teaser as we patiently wait for more.
