Michigan's Melanie Pierce impresses again on newest single, "Illusions"

Michigan’s own, Melanie Pierce, is back yet again with the release of her fantastic new track, “Illusions”. Read along as we dig into how we felt about the song and a little background on the artist as well!
“Illusions” is one of two recently released singles coming from Melanie Pierce, the other being “Headlights”, which is equally fantastic in its own way. What we love to see about the artists that come our way are their inspirations and the look into how they got the start or spark that inspired them to create music. Well for Pierce specifically, “I knew at a very young age that music was a part of who I am, and that there was more to it than just saying "I want to be a singer" as a kid. It has always been deeper than that. I picked up a guitar around age 13, and then just last year I bought myself a piano... and I never leave it alone. I write songs about hard feelings, and I just hope that people who hear my music can relate to it, and that it makes you feel less alone. I am always in my mind, so when I write music, oftentimes it's really raw feelings and words that escape. It's almost like a pressure release valve or something. I hope my music comforts you in some way. I love writing music, and to be able to release music for people to connect with is so insane to me.”

Now to the music, “Illusions” was a fantastic pop song that instantly felt memorable. It starts off with the notes of a piano and slowly transforms into an incredible vocal performance, filled with touching lyrics, and a heavy dose of bass. Listening on a pair of expensive headphones is the way to go if they’re available, because the production on this track really speaks. It feels as if waves are washing and crashing, all the while the sound of Pierce’s voice soothes to calm down the instrumentation. It’s a truly pleasant experience and if you haven’t listened, we highly recommend you get to it!
