Maya Azucena bursts with soul on latest EP, "I Am Enough"

Bursting with passion and never ending euphoric vocals, Maya Azucena has put together something beautiful with the release of I Am Enough. We are loving it! Please read on for an in-depth review of this record, as well as a background on this artist.

If you happen to be out of the loop with Maya Azucena’s work, she’s an award-winning indie artist, who’s been on absolute tear over the years consistently releasing heartfelt music into the world. On her newest EP I Am Enough, that fact stays true as she’s delicately created a balance between Soul, R&B, and even elements of Hip Hop infused into the record. From start to finish, you’re hit with infinite catchy melodies that you’ll certainly find yourself humming along to. Obviously, we’re urging everyone to give this a play when you get the chance.

At 6 total tracks that run right around 22 minutes in length, I Am Enough feels like this bite-sized record that’s undeniably jam packed with optimism and positive feelings. On the background of it all, Maya has stated it’s a “joyous affirmation of self-worth and acceptance. It also serves as a refutation of anybody, or anything seeking to devalue people or break their spirits”. In today’s day and age, so many unfortunately bring down others for close to no reason at all, but it’s music like this that aims to raise everyone’s moods in some capacity. The first thing you’ll notice here are the dynamics in Maya’s vocals, but look closer, and you can connect the dots within some seriously meaningful lyricism and deep themes being covered.

Putting the messaging aside for just a moment though, we’ve got to give a major shoutout to the production and the seemingly endless amount of sonic subtleties lying beneath I Am Enough. As if the beats weren’t stunningly original, the diverse instrumentation present here on tracks like “Alley” and “Death Is Dancing” had to have been our main standouts. It’s actually difficult to point out anything glaring that doesn’t belong, mainly because the whole record flows so flawlessly from beginning to end. That’s exactly why we hope you listen!
