Martin Philp shares incredibly relatable debut single, "Nightmare!"
Fun and free flowing from start to finish, Martin Philp has just shared an unbelievably catchy debut single called “Nightmare!”. Read on as we share our thoughts on the song, as well as a background on this artist.
As a musician, songwriter, and lifelong performer, we’re thrilled to say that Martin Philp has gone above and beyond with a feel good single, “Nightmare!”. Virtually guaranteed to be stuck in your head by the end of your initial listen, he’s taken his years of experience performing all over the world and shared something here that’s brutally honest, yet quite inventive. Of course, we’re urging everyone to give it a spin when you get a moment.
Somewhere between Classic Rock, Country, and a bit of his own personality and signature essence infused into the mix, we’ve got a sneaking suspicion most people will be able to relate to this lyrically. On its background, it’s a song about a “character that everybody's met at one point, someone that is completely deceiving and leaves you disappointed”. Hence the title, “Nightmare!”, we’ve all come across an individual or group who just consistently gives you a hard time or becomes a detractor. In this scenario though, Martin has flipped it around and truly brightened our day with his sincerity and overall laid back vibe that comes through here consistently. It’s a relatively stripped back song, just featuring his voice and his guitar, but honestly anything else would’ve been overkill or unnecessary.
Considering that this is just the first of much more to come, Martin himself has classified this as “easy-listening soft rock”, and it’s lived up to the name. As a skilled songwriter, especially in terms of painting a picture of his struggles through words, we’re extremely intrigued to see what else he has to offer. The life that he’s lived has surely racked up a great deal of stories, so the real hope is that his new tunes will be in the same vein as “Nightmare!”.
