Cranking it up both instrumentally and with powerful dual meaning lyrics, Madison Deaver has shown her edge on her latest single, “Denim”. Co-written with Una Jensen, the two collaborators on the song ultimately crafted it as a way to display certain elements of symbolism, however they managed to create an adrenaline-fueled masterpiece by the end. Without a doubt, this is a single and an artist that we’re highly recommending everyone check out as soon as possible.
On the background of it all, Madison says that “Denim can symbolize forever because of the way you keep wearing it no matter how messed up it gets over time, so we wanted to use it in a way where the relationship was not going to last forever the way denim does”. We would urge everyone out there to really pay close attention to the lyrics from start to finish, because seriously it’s one of the most impressive pieces we’ve heard in a while. The juxtaposition between the meanings, Madison’s endearing delivery, and the way you can attribute to particular facets in your own life.
Instrumentally speaking though, the song hooks you in right from the get go with its crunchy guitars, crisp production, and Madison’s voice that provides a real consistency. Atmospherically it’s as if everyone involved with the song took elements of so many subgenres to create this all encompassing listen, but we couldn’t help but feel a bit of nostalgia too. There’s so many modern rock elements presented, yet it brought us back to the days of the mid-2000’s where every song felt anthemic, provided euphoria, and just downright made you feel cool inside. Whether that was the intention or not, we can confidently say that it was our most surprising take from “Denim” and 100% a reason that we’ll find ourselves coming back for more listens.
