Abby London experiments on dreamy new single, "Hysteria"
Out officially on August 10th, we got the opportunity to preview Abby London’s latest single “Hysteria”, and it has delivered beyond all expectations. Read on for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this artist.
For those unfamiliar with the work of Abby London, she’s consistently pushing the envelope within her music by crafting these out of the box styles and rhythms, yet staying powerful and expressive within her lyricism. Abby’s latest musical endeavor is a song called “Hysteria” that takes the form of an alternative pop ballad, but certainly takes on a life of its own through a peculiar and endearing song structure. We particularly loved it and can’t wait for everyone out there to give it a listen.
On the background of it all, “Hysteria” was “made out of frustration with mainstream news media and the people who follow it without question”. In today’s wild and crazy age where the masses believe the most insane things presented to them, truly, we appreciate songs like this that break the mold and bring attention to a problem that affects us all. Considering that it’s such a special situation, Abby really went above and beyond in composing this to make the listener feel like they’re floating on a cloud in a dreamlike state. The chords are odd and it really plays with experimental elements, but it’s what makes it the most special at the end of it all.
Taking the meaning aside for just a moment though, the precision and attention to detail through the song’s production are really what make it pop the most. However, Abby’s vocals that border on that lofi delivery provide the necessary constant that “Hysteria” needed as well. While it certainly has glimmers of pop sporadically placed, it legitimately feels like it’s finding a new niche of its own genre-wise. Touching on so many different styles sonically is always a plus, but that’s if you make it work, which Abby London 100% has. If anything, it’s given us all the energy to further explore the rest of her discography. Undoubtedly there’s got to be more gems like this hiding and more on the way too.
