Mad Painter excel on genre-diverse second album, "Splashed"

Freshly released on March 15th, 2023, Mad Painter have just come forth with their sophomore full length record, Splashed. We are loving this one! Keep reading as we take a closer look into the album, as well as a much needed background on the band.

Currently representing the music scene in Boston, MA, Mad Painter have continued to amplify and revolutionize their already eclectic and upbeat sound. On their second studio album called Splashed, it immediately became this epic thrill ride of hard rock, but with a nostalgic and throwback touch to it. Lively in the instrumentals and beyond passionate in the vocals, we’re sincerely excited for everyone out there to give this one a loud and focused listen.

Through a whopping seventeen tracks on Splashed, our initial listen gave us the feeling that basically there’s a little bit something for everyone here. For example, the opener “Illusion” quickly lets you know how the rest of the record is going to play out, however the band doesn’t skimp on twists, turns, and surprises. Though each track certainly has its own feel and differentiation factors, there’s no doubt that the entirety of the album has a real cohesion about it. Going back for a second listen, we already know there’s specific standout singles that have a potential for a ton of replayability, but the front to back listen is truly priceless. Mad Painter immerses you into a piece of art that is extremely energetic, features one screaming guitar solo after the other, and has some pretty compelling stories in the lyricism too.

Another major highlight for us was the real diversity in instrumentation. While you’ve certainly got your staples, they throw some oddball sounds and textures into the mix that really help to elevate the complexities and depth that Splashed has to offer. Honestly, how they’ve composed these songs in infusing styles of the past, all the while bringing a modern touch is no easy task. This record could have easily been released in the 80’s for example and been as well received today. Though this was our introduction to the band as a whole, they’ve made fans out of us, and we’re already patiently waiting for whatever the future may hold.

In the meantime, we’re urging everyone to please click those links below in order to get listening, following along, and of course to stay tuned for whatever’s next. Enjoy!
