Liz Van Gretsch delivers big on electrifying single, "Save Me"
On her first original single release of the year titled “Save Me”, immediately Liz Van Gretsch left our collective hearts pumping with an upbeat and immersive musical offering. We’re excited for everyone out there to check out our review, as well as an update on this multi-talented artist.
In collaboration with a drum and bass legend, Peredur Ap Gwynedd of Pendulum, Liz Van Gretsch and Peredur continue to complement and synergize with each other while pumping out stellar and captivating new music. This new one is called “Save Me” and truly encapsulates music as a whole across the spectrum with the riveting sounds of fast-paced drumming, all the while Liz steps in with potentially her most passionate and range defying vocal performance yet. It’s a song worth queuing up as soon as possible, which is exactly why we’re urging the world to listen.
As always, Liz herself has provided a bit of an origin story on “Save Me” in which she’s said it’s about “feeling hopeless, ‘drowning’ in life and just waiting for someone to come and lift you out of it”. Under the guidance of music executive Nick Halkes, the two worked together to flesh out the thoughts of an artist who’s pushing, experimenting with it all, and working to get themselves out of a metaphorical rut. Delivered in the most enthusiastic albeit optimistic and forward-thinking manner, Liz honestly has served up a vocal performance that grabs you by the heart as soon as her voice enters the mix. Considering there’s really so much happening instrumentally in the structure of the song, there’s still no doubt that she pops out as the main constant and highlight.
Ultimately it’s a drum and bass track in the background, but with those signature heavy electro-inspired guitar moments, and little surprises sprinkled in as well, the complexity and depth is as high as ever. One thing we’ve found thematically in reviewing her music is that you’re never going to get something straightforward that doesn’t make you think. A main driver in our love for Liz Van Gretsch’s music is the consistency of thinking outside of the box, her top tier choices in collaborators, and the never ending heart and soul that underlies all these tracks. Once again, we’ve got nothing but positive things to point out, so please, take the time and give this one a spin.
