Lucius Echo does it again on Hopsin-inspired new single, "The Culling Stone"

Review by Austin Sher

Released this morning on August 31st, 2020, we’ve got another Lucius Echo review covering his brand new single, “The Culling Stone”. Do yourself a favor and read on for our deep dive into our thoughts on the newest track.

You may remember that a few days back we covered Lucius Echo’s cover of Thrice’s “Hurricane”. Well we’re back, and so is Lucius, with an original of his own that we’re absolutely loving. If you’re just finding out about the artist now, we highly recommend you take a look at our previous article to get yourself up to speed on the background of the artist. For that, click HERE, to listen to “Hurricane”, and to read our review as well.

Moving onto “The Culling Stone”, our immediate thoughts were just how much Hopsin inspiration took place and flowed through the song from start to finish. As the artist told us, he realized he could say whatever he felt, about whatever he wanted in whatever fashion he wanted. This was the beginning of him learning that writing and music was his passion and escape. Besides the track being spectacular, it has to be quite freeing to know that you can use the creativity inside yourself and let it flow out in the form of song, especially an original composition.

With all that being said, if you enjoyed the Thrice cover, then you’re certainly going to enjoy “The Culling Stone”. Again, Lucius impressed us with his vocals that fit the feel of the song oh so well. The instrumentation and production were truly top notch, and at this point which should go without saying, we’re big fans. We hope that with this single release, there’s hope that an EP or even a full length album is on its way. Only time will tell!
