Lucius Echo pivots his sound on lyric-forward single, "Precognition"
On his incredibly impressive 14th single release of “Precognition”, Lucius Echo has continued to completely blow us away with his consistency. Do yourselves a favor and please read on for a closer look into the track, in addition to an update on this talented artist.
For those who have somehow been hiding under a rock, Lucius Echo has been beyond prolific in his releases over the past couple of years, cranking hit after hit with an emphasis on the evolution of his sound. Taking influences from a wide and diverse range of major artists, Lucius still manages to carve out a special niche of his own, especially so on his newest track “Precognition”. This would serve as an ideal introduction to the artist, but we’d still urge everyone to do a deep dive on his discography.
Always aiming to blend genres and sounds one way or another, “Precognition” is another prime example of his inspirations shining their way through. This song specifically does a great job of including elements of R&B, Hip Hop, Acoustic, and even some glimmers of Soul in the instrumental. At a little over four minutes in total length, this certainly feels like a lyric forward-style track from the artist, an outlet for him that gives the opportunity to explore his personal experiences and situations. With so much going on historically in his life, it could explain the mass amount of music released as a way to get it all out there, but in turn becomes this beautiful catalog for all to rejoice and lean on emotionally.
One major standout of them all though was a new style included here that we’ve yet to experience in the rest of Lucius Echo’s music, a nice dose of funk within the backing guitars. You may not realize it, but they added such a deep complexity that totally shifted the overall mood in the song, keeping things a little bit lighter than expected. Mixed with his lofi-esque vocals, we vibed so much with this one from start to finish. This could absolutely be a nice starting point to listen to the rest of his music, but we’ll leave it up to you given so many choices to choose from!
