Lucius Echo opens up on a downtempo single, "1.0 X"

Slowing things down a bit and staying consistent as ever, Lucius Echo is back yet again with a killer new track titled “1.0 X”. Read on for a closer look into the single, as well as an update on the artist.

Prolific as ever and always keeping us guessing as to what’s coming next, Lucius Echo has reeled in his sound a bit for something a little more introspective and downtempo. His latest song is titled “1.0 X” and features a striking single cover that includes a picture of him as a child with a backdrop of Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Like a majority of his tunes, he keeps a deep focus on the lyricism at hand, and is slowly opening up himself to a rapidly growing fanbase. As always, we can’t wait for everyone out there to give this one a spin as soon as possible.

At just a tad over four minutes in length, you immediately become immersed in something that holds a bit of a serious tone. Compared to the rest of his discography, as recently as “Opium”, this is a complete 180 from the Lucius that we’re used to. With that being said though, a point that we’ve continually made about his music is the constant evolution and not holding himself inside a box of genre. The artist lets his creativity flow into whatever moods or tones he might be feeling at the moment and that’s a legitimate reason why we’ve grown to love his catalog so much. Undoubtedly, you’re never receiving the same thing twice and that’s why “1.0 X” stands out so much on first listen.

As mentioned, it’s certainly a lyrically forward song that feels purposeful in its intent to not distract from gimmicky production effects or the odd novelty. For the most part, it’s a fairly subdued beat that doesn’t rise or fall too much in terms of energy, but ultimately that was the right stylistic choice to make considering the vocals are right at the forefront. We’re used to Lucius Echo either rapping or getting a bit heavier on rock-centric singles, but to hear a slightly stripped back version and hear his voice serenade the listener, it’s what makes this special from beginning to end.

Without spoiling much else, let us confidently point you in the direction of those links below where you can listen, follow along, and of course stay tuned for much more on the way.
