Following up her debut EP, Plan For An Independent Future, Lo has made her return with a stunning and crippling new single, ‘Away’. After the success of her first release ‘Floating’ and subsequent single ‘Fiction’, it seemed hard to imagine in which direction Lo would step next, or if it were even possible to meet such high expectations, and yet she has made it look easy.

According to the artist, ‘Away’ is a powerful statement, a bold next move coated in delicacies. Lo has somehow managed to pull back so expertly that we see more of her than we ever have before. She’s evoking a vulnerability so visceral that it has nearly become painful to endure; Lo’s heartache bleeding into our own.

Considering that this was our first foray into the bedroom poppy, lofi sounding music of Lo, let us confidently say that it will certainly not be our last. As fans of both Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo, of which her overall sound slightly emulates, we were enthralled with the world that the artist created on this powerful new single, “Away”

Right from the get go, Lo manages to create an alluring and dreamy soundscape that provides a unique atmosphere, something the average listener might not be used to. However, as the song plays on, the artist evokes multiple emotions and tells her story with strapping lyricism and a vocal delivery that will send shivers down your spine.

After our first listen, we had no choice but to go back and listen to her debut EP. Comparing and contrasting to this latest single, we absolutely adore the direction she took things and are greatly looking forward to her next big release. If the emotions that come through on just one single such as “Away” can be this powerful, we can only assume a future full length record would send us to full tears. We’re beyond excited for what’s to come next for the artist as we’ll definitely be watching this career with a close eye.
