Released earlier this summer at the beginning of August, Levi Nathaniel officially shared his soothing EP, titled Songs I Wrote For You. We absolutely adored it! Please read along with us for our thoughts on the record, in addition to a background on the artist as well.

For those who may be unaware, Levi Nathaniel is a songwriter, musician, producer and artist who is currently seeking to push boundaries and experiment with any and all sounds that come his way.. Inspired by various Jazz, Soul and Hip-Hop artists, Levi Nathaniel ventures into different lyrical and musical styles to uncover the depth of his passion for music. The music coming out of this artist is bound to be smooth, diverse and full of passion. Love songs are an obvious "go to" for artists and song-writers, however, there are many plans to continue discovering the limits of where his music can go.

After our first full listen through the record, our expectations were blown out of the water. In a time where life is crazy, this was just the type of music we needed in our lives to take a step back and reflect. The calming, soothing, and breezy vocals of Levi Nathaniel made for an experience that made us feel like everything was in its right place.

Coming in at 4 total tracks, with a run time of 11 minutes, it’s a record you could pop on at nearly any time of the day or night. It doesn’t take up too much time, we truly wish it did. As much as we love the EP format, an expanded album of tracks just like these would be the dream. There’s enough going on creatively and instrumentally that it doesn’t get boring. You can hear Levi expand on certain sections that could easily be their own songs.

Considering it’s only 4 tracks, we’re not gonna pick favorites, because they all ruled, but the record opener “My Love” really did set the tone for the entire listen. There’s nothing like an acoustic guitar and lush backing vocals to really put you at ease.

While this was our first foray into the music of Levi Nathaniel, it’s certainly not going to be our last. Looking through the rest of his discography though, we had no choice but to check his additional 2020 release, The Art of Dreaming, which to no surprise was also fantastic. Once you finish up your first listen, we recommend checking out this one as well. With this all being said though, enough reading, get listening!
