Leslie Birdwell Pursley brings an immense joy on self-titled debut EP
Bursting with fun and joy from beginning to end, Leslie Birdwell Pursley has finally released her immaculate self-titled debut EP. Go ahead and read on for a closer look into the record, as well as a background on this talented artist.
Currently based out of Tennessee, it’s been a long time coming, but thankfully Leslie Birdwell Pursley has just shared her self-titled debut EP. Jam packed with personality, plenty of country influence, and her own take on a classic track, it’s a short yet sweet listen that we already know we’ll be coming back to. Chances are this is your introduction to the artist, but we can’t think of a better way to familiarize yourself than with a listen to this.
Coming in at just four songs, spanning right around 13 minutes of runtime, Leslie’s EP quickly comes to life with that signature country essence that spans literal decades of influence. Featuring a ton of upbeat guitar solos, a highly necessary fiddle making its way through, and of course the vibrant vocals that Leslie shows off in the best way possible, there’s not a single flaw we could find. While we’ll urge everyone to give this a front to back listen, we should probably share that without a doubt, our personal highlight was her cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “Something To Talk About”. It’s a song we hold dearly, but Leslie seriously brought a whole new life and vibe into the mix here!
Virtually guaranteed to put a smile on your face, there really is just a sincere amount of freshness and charisma that’s been infused here. While we don’t know Leslie as a person, there still manages to be this real connection and warmth that comes off in her voice. It’s as if she’s singing directly to you as she makes her away through a diverse range of genres. You’ll notice it’s certainly country forward, but it’s hard to deny the sheer amount of soul and gospel influence that can be detected as well. We’re towards the end of 2022, but surely we hope to see and hear more from Leslie Birdwell Pursley in the coming months.
