Kt exceeds expectations on wonderful debut single, "Save Yourself"

Serving as her debut single to the world, there’s so much to love about the latest from Kt, an all new song titled “Save Yourself”. Please read on for a closer look into the track, in addition to a much needed background on this emerging artist.

While this might be the debut song from Kt, it’s certainly not her first foray into music in the slightest. After being trained in classical voice, piano, and composition, with musical influences that are extremely diverse, she’s finally shared her first original “Save Yourself”. You can hear those influences from artists like Amy Winehouse or Etta James, but truthfully, this one is bursting with originality and freshness from beginning to end. We can’t wait for everyone out there to give this a listen.

On the background of it all, ultimately “Save Yourself” acts as a “break-up song that digs into personal experience to show how you can lose yourself in a toxic relationship and to share what that feels like”. There’s a reverberating line within the song that passionately states “who’s gonna save me?” and the answer will always be yourself. It’s an all too relatable situation thematically that not a lot of people realize they’re in until it's too late, so if anything, take this advice and please do what you will with it. The lyricism presented here is honestly so descriptive, you can play out “Save Yourself” like a mini music video in your head if you really pay attention!

Putting the message aside though, sonically and instrumentally, Kt has so perfectly nailed the tone that this song needed. It’s a fairly even blend that encompasses the styles of pop, rock, and blues, but there’s an alarming amount of soul that creeps up towards the end. For a debut single, it’s typically so difficult for artists to nail down a specific sound or niche that works well for them, mainly because they’re in the midst of trying to figure it out. In the future though, this has provided such a beautiful base to build off of for the future, she could go down nearly any avenue and we can virtually guarantee that we’d eat it up like we did with this.

So for now while we patiently wait, go ahead and click the links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with hopefully much more on the way.
