KHAO$ drops his long-awaited full length record, "Maybe Sum Friday"
Long awaited but finally arrived, KHAO$ has just served up his first full length album titled Maybe Sum Friday and it’s surpassed all our expectations. Keep reading for our glowing review of the record, in addition to a background on the artist.
Currently based out of Florence, South Carolina, KHAO$ is a 26 year old Hip Hop artist who seamlessly infuses his personal experiences and creative storytelling into all the music he’s making. While we’ve covered him extensively in the past, we’re beyond thrilled that his full length album Maybe Sum Friday has finally dropped. From start to finish it’s a masterclass in songwriting, flawless flow, and a close attention to detail within the production. We’re urging everyone out there to give this one a play immediately.
Working tirelessly since 2018 on not only his own projects, but features of others, this truly feels like his magnum opus. Coming in at 10 songs, spanning right around 30 minutes in length, KHAO$ opens you up with a recording explaining the meaning of “Maybe Sum Friday” and then the album immediately dives headfirst into beauty and pure musicianship for the rest. According to KHAO$, “This was a personal project for me and over the course of the project you’ll hear references of things that I remember from my childhood days or even in my late teen/early adult years. For one of the tracks on my project, “World Is Ours” I have a video out now for it on YouTube.”
We’ve mentioned this in previous reviews, but the way that this artist manages to immediately immerse the listener in a specific world is honestly his vision coming to fruition. Of course you’re hit with a cavalcade of meaningful stories like on “7132” and “Our Luv Is”, but the cohesiveness of the full listen is what gives this that album experience we’re always looking for and chasing. Through inventive and original beats, some key features from Naafie, Supremacy, and BF Monster, there really aren’t a lot of major critiques we have. Maybe Sum Friday does an impeccable job of spanning decades of influences and inspirations, all the while projecting a look at a modern feel of where Hip Hop should be going.
Not to spoil much else, but again we’re pointing everyone in the direction of those links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with everything from KHAO$. Don’t miss out!
