Crawl Across The Sky immerses the listener on gripping single, "Twilight Gradations"
Gripping and explosive from start to finish, Crawl Across The Sky has just treated his fans to an all new single titled “Twilight Gradations”. Please keep reading for a much closer look at the track, as well as a needed update on this immensely talented artist.
It’s been close to two full years since we last reviewed the work of Crawl Across The Sky, in which we fell in love with The Void Alone, so you can only imagine our sheer excitement to get a preview of Nathan Kwon’s latest work. The song is called “Twilight Gradations” and it’s a near 10 minute immersive experience that will have the hair on your body stand straight up and fill you with adrenaline from beginning to end. We sincerely enjoyed our listen and highly recommend that everyone open their minds and get into this.
We’ll preface our review that “Twilight Gradations” is for the strong and experimental type of music listener, but also for those who are looking to expand their repertoire of taste and style. It blends multiple genres covering post-metal, sludge, doom metal, black metal, and beyond, but truly it’s an audible experience like we’ve never been through before. Through 10 minutes of twists, turns, and instrumental achievements, Crawl Across The Sky had our attention and focus piqued from the opening notes. On the actual meaning behind it, Nathan left us with a message saying, “the lyrics themselves are a sort of inversion of their first part, where they originally were about facing death in defiance and refusing to bend to struggle, using typical Christian imagery of Peter being the Rock of the Church and holding the keys of Life and Death”.
Mixed and mastered by Taylor McGilvray of Smiling Duck Productions, it’s a feat in its own to have taken this piece of art and made it what it is today. Truly though, it’s almost difficult to put everything into words rather than just pointing you in the direction to listen. It might seem like a cop out, but what “Twilight Gradations” has done is almost surpassed the traditional song structure and become a living breathing piece of art in the process. You’ll encounter an outrageously inventive song structure, impressive vocals from Nathan, and the production is just plain divine. Don’t overthink it, please hit that play button and enjoy.
