Kevin Roentgen displays exceptional originality on new single, "This Is Home"

Leaning heavily on imagery-filled lyricism and an inspired instrumentation, we’re loving everything about “This Is Home” from Kevin Roentgen. Please read on for an in-depth look into the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.

As a singer, songwriter, producer, and composer, is there anything that Kevin Roentgen can’t do? Well, he’s more than proved himself on his sensational new single “This Is Home”, a wonderful display of original musicianship that evokes a ton of emotion. Taking cues from some of his inspirations such as Bob Dylan, Don McLean, and beyond, he’s still managed to craft up a fresh sounding song that paints a picture in your head and sends tingles down your spine due to some of the more intense instrumental moments. It’s both a song and an artist that we’re highly recommending, so please give this song a spin whenever possible.

Having been involved in bands since the young age of 12, and part of much bigger projects dating back to the mid-90’s, it’s no surprise that Kevin’s talents have led to this solid release today. In this scenario though, he’s scaled things back and delivered much more of a focus on the intimate and raw feeling of his music. We came away from our initial listen of “This Is Home” feeling like this was a song that could have easily been released 30-40 years ago and gained critical acclaim. You’re hit from all sides with a seemingly infinite amount of sensory lifters, from Kevin’s soft and sultry vocal delivery all the way to perfectly timed guitar flourishments. Truly, the production on this track is stellar, and is 100% worth your time to listen with a nice pair of headphones to focus in on the subtleties you might otherwise be missing.

At just a tad under four minutes in total length, you immediately get sucked in and immersed into the situation that the artist is communicating. There’s certainly an emphasis on the lyricism, providing a nice touch of optimism and introspection in our opinion, but it should also go without saying that the entirety of “This is Home” just feels like a classically well rounded song. Packed with sincerity and rawness in all facets, there’s simply nothing we would change about it whatsoever.

For now, we’re looking forward to a follow up, but in the meantime we suggest you check out the links below to listen, follow along, and to stay tuned for all major updates.
