Kayana gives a needed background on new track, "Jaded" - Interview
Fresh off the release of her incredibly relatable track “Jaded”, we got the special opportunity to sit and speak with Kayana all about the specifics of the single, Please check out our full interview with the artist below.
In a wild world of online dating and the complications that come along with it, Kayana’s newest single “Jaded” so eloquently puts a storyline together for those experiencing similar situations. For this New York-based singer and songwriter, she’s been cranking out hit after hit since 2020 and this newest one falls in line with the quality that we’ve experienced thus far. Written by her and recorded at Goldheart Studios, it was an honor to get to speak with her and hear all the important stories leading up to this.
Somewhere between R&B and Pop, with plenty of Soul to round things out, “Jaded” tells the story of many frustrations involved with being a dating app user in 2022. Says Kayana on the background, “Jaded is a song of frustration that speaks to how dating in New York City has gotten me jaded. I wrote this song after I was ghosted by yet another guy I met
through a dating app. This song is full of attitude, as I express my frustration.” Kayana, we’ve been there, and it never gets easier, however we’re beyond thrilled there’s actually a song now that we can fall back on when times get tough. Even putting the context of it all aside, the way that she’s delivered her vocals, that’s where the true artistry appears the most. You can sense the anger, edge, and grit, but she does so in a way that makes it feel welcome for all.
On the production side of things, it’s another fantastic representation of how you can blur the lines and expand your sound through subtleties in style. “Jaded” does a ton of things correctly, but it’s aim to cast a wide net for lovers of music all across the spectrum is one of our favorites. Undoubtedly, this is serving as a perfect jump off point to the rest of Kayana’s music, so please don’t miss out on all the hidden gems.
