Jonivan Jones hits back with a classic sound on sophomore album, "Afterwhile"

Released earlier this month on October 9th, 2020, Jonivan Jones has officially debuted his rustic sounding Americana album, Afterwhile. Do yourselves a favor and read along with us for our full thoughts on the record, in addition to a background on the artist as well.
If you happen to be unaware, Jonivan Jones is an Americana & Folk style Singer and Songwriter who has just released this wonderful sophomore album of catchy tunes. Jonivan is not new to the scene however, as he’s been performing live since about 2006 and writing songs since about 1994. Over the last 20 years traveling around the U.S. and a few parts of the world, a good portion of that time was spent performing in those locales which helped to polish and shape what they do now.
According to Jonivan, “We make a very simple gravelly recipe of guitars, driving bass lines, vocals, harmonica, lap steel and some lyrics from the heart to connect with folks”. If you’re a general fan of Americana, Folk, and Country music, then you’re absolutely going to love this. To be as straightforward as possible, it’s easy going music that is super relaxing to have on in the background.
Coming in at 9 total tracks, spanning a 32 minute run time, Afterwhile hits peaks and valleys within its lush instrumentation, heartwarming lyrics, and rustic vocals from front man Jonivan Jones. The way the artist conveys his thoughts and stories into compelling themes across the record really made for something truly special. You can tell some real heart and soul went into this piece of art.
While this was our first look and listen into the music of this specific artist, let it be known that it certainly will not be our last. We can honestly say that whenever we’re looking for an easy listen that lets us get out of our own heads, and into someone else’s life experiences, we’ll be turning directly to Afterwhile.
