John Driftmore shares his best work yet, "Simply Satie"

Coming in right at the end of the year with an outstanding new record, John Driftmore has just released his latest work, Simply Satie. Please keep reading for a closer look into the album, as well as a much needed background on this talented artist.

Intensely beautiful and compelling from start to finish, John Driftmore’s newest album titled Simply Satie is undoubtedly his best yet. For the fans out there of artists like Philip Glass, Max Richter, and those alike, John has managed to create something entirely unique to himself, but in a slightly minimalist and neoclassical way. On the off chance this happens to be your introduction to his music, we can think of no better place to start than with a front to back listen of this.

As a longtime composer, arranger, and much more, John has certainly focused intently on the subtleties that Simply Satie has to offer. Coming in at 9 total tracks that span right around 30 minutes, for us we quickly found how nice this was to either have on in the background to set a mood, or to listen closer and lose yourself within the sound. If anything, Simply Satie has proved to have this versatility about it, not needing a specific set or setting to fully enjoy or make time for it. Through our initial listen, we also found a serious cohesiveness to these works. What we mean by that is that there isn’t much differentiation between the tracks, rather one full album experience that takes the listener on a sonic journey through complex textures and innovate styles.

Currently based out of San Francisco, California, John works as a piano curator and concert technician, which boasts no surprise whatsoever that his life revolves around mastering the instrument. Listeners will be treated to calming, relaxing, but ultimately thought provoking songs that never get too experimental, but rather give the opportunity for life to slow down a bit and to truly take in what you’re hearing. As life constantly feels like it’s being sped up or we’re being pulled back and forth to something, 100% we can already see ourselves coming back to Simply Satie to reflect and hold the feeling of real peace.

John Driftmore has gone above and beyond here, which is why we’re confidently pointing everyone to the links below where they can listen, follow along, and of course keep up with much more on the way.
