Joey Gonzalez releases his deeply inspiring new single, "24 Seven Fight"

Review by Austin Sher

Joey Gonzalez has released yet another fantastic new single, titled “24 Seven Fight”. We absolutely love what we heard and we think you will too! Read along as we give an in-depth review of the song, as well as a bit of background on the artist as well.

After taking 7 years off from the music scene, Joey Gonzalez is officially back with an inspiring new song. For those that may not know, Gonzalez is a second generation artist and performer. Music was a staple growing up and provided the soundtrack for an explorative  young life. Influenced by a vast variety of artists such as the magnetic personality of Elvis, arena rock giants Journey & Bon Jovi along with R & B staples such as Sam Cooke and Babyface. Music was about connection and genres did not matter. Considering both of his parents have backgrounds in music (mother being an aspiring theater performer and father having a professional operatic career), there’s no real surprise that Joey’s vocals were as strong as they were in “24 Seven Fight”.

For anyone that has gone through the pain of losing a loved one, this particular song is inspired by the real life struggle of close friends who lost their beloved child. While Joey is a father to 2 young teenagers, trying to come close to even thinking about experiencing something like that is heartbreaking. The theme of the song is wanting to explore what exactly his friends went through during that time and trying to be there for one another when they really need you the most. I can’t think of many things more personal than creating a song to help them mourn, it’s extremely selfless on Gonzalez’s part and makes the song even more emotional and deep than it seems on the surface.

According to Gonzalez, “Life is not always pretty but love always finds a way to keep us moving. If you have lost a child, this song is for you and hopefully lifts your spirit and creates a pause in the process for you.”

Now that we’ve covered the background, let’s dig into the music itself. For myself, whenever violins or a string section are featured on a song, I immediately fall in love, so of course this wasn’t a different case. The song begins with the roaring of battling violins, swiftly followed up by Gonzalez’s powerful and direct voice, telling the story of those who lost. The overall themes and atmosphere are surely emotional, but at the same time we felt it was all very healing after knowing the backstory.

The instrumentation on the single, in addition to the vocals, were all very strong. Like I mentioned before, the strings really bring it together, the drumming took a backseat but held their place very well, and the guitar solo to wrap it up was extremely fitting. Hearing a shredding guitar while contemplating and dissecting what you’ve heard really is a nice way to end a song.

Overall, we really did love the song. It’s deep, inspiring, and quite original in terms of sound and delivery. We think you’ll love it, so please go ahead and check out the following links below to listen and to keep up with Joey Gonzalez on his musical journey.
