Jett Jenkins' details her personal experiences on EP, "Through My Eyes"
Long awaited, but finally arrived, Jett Jenkins’ debut EP Through My Eyes was 100% worth the wait. Please read on for our complete thoughts on the record, as well as a background on this artist.
Having been introduced to Jett Jenkins’ music through her single “Through My Eyes”, the complete collection she’s just delivered on Through My Eyes was ultimately flawless. Detailing a “culmination of heartbreak, loss, changing friendships, and coming of age experiences”, she delicately crafted these deep lyrics on top of a compelling instrumentation and production. Without a doubt, we can’t wait for everyone to listen to it in its entirety.
Through five songs total, Jett intimately takes you on a rollercoaster ride through her most personal and life changing moments over the past few years. Unfortunately losing her father seems to be the focal point, however she’s truly unraveled so much more for listeners everywhere to connect the dots on. So many grieve in infinite ways, but we’re strong proponents of taking that pain and turning into beauty. What Jett has accomplished here on Through My Eyes is the definition of that and we really can’t recommend it enough.
At a runtime of right around 16 minutes, you immediately get transported to a somewhat melancholy world of context, however there are certainly bright spots in the production that shine bright. We found that Jett’s vocals served as the ideal constant to raise us up when things got a little too dark. A majority of the EP is definitely on the introspective side, but we sincerely hope that she’s taken these words and can work towards a more optimistic future. You can never rush grieving, but it’s going to be interesting to hear how she evolves herself on future singles and albums. With that being said, we do hope it stays personal, because that’s when the real genuine moments come through the most.
