Currently representing the Bay Area hip hop scene, Jay Kayze is making his way to the top on each subsequent single release. Taking cues from some of the greats like Nas, Rakim, and Too Short, his music stands on its own and continues to speak for itself. On his newest, “Dollar N a Dream”, that fact stays true, however we’re loving the bit of a revolution in sound he’s provided. Needless to say, we can’t wait for everyone out there to dig into this as soon as you can.
Going all in with his dream of hitting big, ridding the naysayers, and preparing for the best, we felt that “Dollar N a Dream” was the perfect encapsulation of that message. Brimming with so much talent not only on his vocal capability, but the production itself, there’s a ton of fun instrumentation moments that show themselves too. Of course we won’t spoil too much before your listen, however the moment in the track when the synthesizers phase in legitimately gave us chills all up and down our body. What Jay has created sonically here is extremely special and is really the main differentiator to the genre.
Whether you’re involved in the music scene or not, you have to imagine that you can resonate with immersing yourself in a career that’s difficult to advance in. There’s no rules, tips, or tricks to make it to the top, only good music that speaks for itself. Lyrically speaking, he’s really done an impeccable job of detailing what so many are struggling with, but in a way that showcases what he’s personally dealt with.
