Jason Mercer delivers again on powerful 2nd single, "She Thinks"
On just his second single titled “She Thinks”, Jason Mercer is already making a name for himself on his explosive sounding music. We’re loving this one! Please read on for our full review of the track, in addition to a background on the artist.
Currently representing the Ontario music scene, Jason Mercer is no stranger in the slightest to the world of music. Being apart of bands beforehand was a major part of his life, however we’ve enjoyed every single second of the two songs that have come out under his solo work. “She Thinks” was wonderful, but we highly recommend you check out his debut “Nobody but You” as well.
So much of what we enjoyed about “She Thinks” were the seemingly infinite aspects that he’s included into one well rounded song. For starters, the storytelling and lyricism is about as picture perfect and imagery-filled as you can imagine. Right from the get go, not only does Jason hook you in with a memorable instrumentation, but you’re along the ride for a story and a peek into his personal experiences.
As this is a collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Mitch Dane of Sputnik Sound, the production and vibrance on his end really came through in the final mix. It’s so clearly got that classic country grit to it, however the rock and roll aspect was not far behind either. The delivery of Jason’s vocals mixed with the punchiness of mixing genres was absolutely the right approach and stylistic choice when putting it all together. Truly, it shows off the artistry and what serious highs can be reached when two collaborators are on the same page.
With so much more on the way in 2022, we can undoubtedly and confidently claim that Jason Mercer is an artist everyone out there should have their eyes and ears on. As you begin your journey into “She Thinks”, one minor suggestion we’ll give is to crank this one up loud, learn the lyrics quick, and have yourselves a nice little singalong after repeated listens. We know we have!
