Jamie Ainslie scores on double single release, "Ready For This" and "Hundred Miles"

Debuted to the world on February 19th, 2021, Jamie Ainslie has put forth two wonderful singles, “Ready For This/Hundred Miles”. Read along with us as we share our thoughts on the tracks, as well as a background on the artist as well.

Mixing up the sounds of indie punk and acoustic core, Jamie Ainslie is off to a hot start with everything he’s put out thus far. Based out of Hartlepool in the North East of England, the artist has crafted his own signature sound, but has also pulled inspiration from some of the greats as well, such as Green Day, Oasis, and Frank Turner.

Considering it’s been nearly a year since his debut single “Recover” was released, we’re beyond thrilled that the artist is back at it with more. Specifically on “Ready For This” and “Hundred Miles”, Jamie has managed to fuse both the ideas of facing the unknown into these separate songs. According to the artist, the song is about “the simple premise of making significant life decisions and how it would affect you and those that are closest to you. On the surface it could be for the right reasons but there is the whole element of doubt that could scare you, so I guess it's about the early stages of adapting.”

You’ll be able to examine the themes just by listening, however, we always love when an artist breaks down the true meaning. Nowadays it’s never a good idea to twist one’s words, especially within lyricism, but the transparency that Jamie has displayed here is quite commendable from an artist’s standpoint.

As for the actual music and atmosphere created, well the artist has absolutely blown us away with the creation of these two tracks. Seriously, the juxtaposition he uses in terms of feel overall from one moment to the next is quite impressive, but also the range of diversity used was nice as well. The first track “Ready For This” aims to fill that need of punk rock in one’s life, while “Hundred Miles” pulls from that Oasis and Green Day inspiration. With vocals slightly reminiscent of Billie Joe Armstrong, we’re incredibly excited to see what else might be on the horizon soon enough.

Seeing as though these are only the second and third singles released from Jamie Ainslie, and “Recover” being great as well, the sky is really the limit for how high his stock can rise. The potential is there, the base is set, now comes the true test of pulling together more life experiences and material to craft an EP or a full length album. Whatever direction he chooses to go in, we’ll without a doubt be listening.

It should really go without saying at this point, but we’re highly recommending you go ahead and give both singles a listen. It’ll more than likely scratch that itch for punk rock, indie acoustics, and an overall imagery filled world that paints the scene. Enjoy!
