Ivy Eye deliver a perfectly groovy single, "Peace of Mind"
Throwing it way back to the sounds of the 1960’s and 70’s, Ivy Eye have just shared an incredibly danceable new single titled “Peace of Mind”. Please read along with us for our full featured review on the track, as well as a background on the band as well.
Expertly blending up a mix of classic disco, funk, R&B, and more, Ivy Eye are bringing the best parts of the past into a modern pop sound with a sleek production. This United Kingdom based duo composed of Matthew Benham and Rory Sheppard are shaking things up and creating truly beautiful and vibrant music. They’ve been writing songs for many years, but the past 6 months have given Ivy Eye the time to finesse and craft their sound.
Recorded at their home studios, we initially imagined how difficult it must have been for the duo to not be constantly grooving along to their own music. It’s truly not often we immediately love something based on our first listens and impressions, however this immediately broke the mold of that as we fell head over heels in love with everything they’ve put together on “Peace of Mind”. Seriously, and this can’t be overstated enough, you need to be listening to this, especially now that it’s the weekend.
Says Ivy Eye on the origins of the song, “For us growing up, music was a form of escapism. It transported us somewhere that was completely different from reality but also relatable. Peace of Mind was written in order to create that form of escapism for the world.”
The initial goal for the duo was to write a “simple, singable, and memorable” song that was catchy and ultimately funky. We’ve made it quite clear already, but they’ve succeeded in the best ways possible. After our first listen, the immediate collective thought was that this is not only a song that needs to be heard live, but in the future a hopeful album that we can replay in its entirety. Our hopes are that more is on the way, but for now, we’ll just keep streaming “Peace of Mind”.
Do yourselves and the people around you a huge favor and get into this track as soon as you can. The single has just been released on May 21st, 2021, which is a Friday, and that means it’s the weekend. Even if it’s not the weekend, there really couldn’t be a bad time to listen. Enjoy!
