Infra Violet blend old and new on synth-inspired album, "Dream Tether"

Consider us incredibly impressed with the debut album titled Dream Tether coming from Infra Violet! They’ve put together something seriously memorable here. Read on for our full review of the record, as well as a background on the band.

Currently based in the United Kingdom, Infra Violet are a Synth-pop duo that have our jaws on the floor with the recent release of their debut record, Dream Tether. Empowering in its vocal structure and completely inventive on the instrumentation front, Toby Campen and Beth have penned a true winner. Sincerely, we can’t wait for everyone to get involved with this piece of beauty as soon as they can.

Already receiving positive acclaim and international radio play, we’re not surprised that our thoughts are aligned with everyone else here. On our first impressions of the album, we were filled to the brim with feelings of joy, vibrance, and a positive outlook on life after listening. With the complex message of connection being at the forefront of the record, we highly recommend all who listen make those connections within the lyricism. There’s so many poignant lines being delivered, it was difficult to keep track in the best way possible.

Picking out a “favorite” song off Dream Tether would be an impossible task as well, mainly because we felt a certain cohesiveness from start to finish. However we will say that the opener “Polaroid” was the perfect introduction to the duo. Soaring synthesizers, sweet and inviting vocals, and a downright punchiness that makes you want to dance around is exactly what you can expect on your listen. We also felt that the album grew bigger and grander in sound as time passed on. This isn’t the type of record that puts the best songs up front, rather every single moment was quality and nothing dipped whatsoever throughout its near 37 minute run time.

As lovers of all things synth and indie pop, we can confidently claim that Infra Violet have crafted something nostalgic and special here. It’s a massive dose of the 80’s mixed with a modern production touch that truly is begging to be listened to at max volume. Once again, we highly suggest you check out this album, and everything else they’ve put out, as soon as possible. We’ve included all the important links below to listen and follow along for more. Enjoy!
