Imvnyel debuts a smooth new single, titled "Stay"
Review by Austin Sher
Officially debuted yesterday on January 4th, 2020, Imvnyel has released his smooth new single, “Stay”. We are absolutely loving it! Please read along with us for our detailed analysis on the track, as well as a background on the artist.
Imvnyel (pronounced Emmanuel) is a Berlin-based singer, rapper, and songwriter who is crafting unique and empathetic poetry with his lyrics. Originally from Zambia, the artist takes direct influence in his sound from Yo Trane, Col3trane, DVSN, Drake, John Mayer, Bryson Tiller, Justin Bieber, Jon Bellion, and Tory Lanez. All those fantastic musicians have imparted their greatness on Imvnyel and his sound has only benefitted.
According to Imvnyel, he gave us a background on “Stay” specifically, in which he said, “I was going through a really tough time personally and decided to "freestyle" on some R&B beats, the chorus came out and stuck with me instantly. Writing this really helped me find personal peace”. Having listened multiple times at this point, he absolutely knocked it out of the park and immediately made us want to check out the rest of his discography as well.
From the opening notes of an acoustic guitar fingerpicking, to the inclusion of a highly original beat, Imvnyel has engineered a highly addictive single here. Acting as almost a hybrid between mainstream pop and rap, the feeling you get after is a highly positive one. It’s smooth and filled with heaps of finesse in its atmosphere and vibes given.
At only a little over 3 minutes in run time, the song doesn’t overstay its welcome. In fact, there’s so many fantastic ideas and sections in just this song, that he truly could have broken down some of the parts into other new singles. With that being said though, he really did crush it on “Stay”, and after listening to the rest of his music, this could potentially be his best one yet. However we will be keeping a close eye on his release schedule over the coming months. This is an artist we’ll be paying close attention to.
At this point though, there really isn’t much left to say without spoiling, so we’ll go ahead and let you know that we’re recommending you give it a listen! Enjoy!
