Horse Doctor give off immense emotion on single, "Simulated Life"
Led by unbelievably dynamic vocals and an inspired instrumentation, we’ve quickly fallen in love with the latest music delivery from Horse Doctor titled “Simulated Life”. Please read on for an in-depth review of the track, as well as a background on this emerging band.
As impressive lyrically as it is on the instrumental end, Horse Doctor have sincerely outdone themselves on this five minute thrilled that they’ve called “Simulated Life”. Ebbing in waves of emotion, passion, and a riveting storyline, the band have ultimately created a song for the ages that will have you deep in your feels by the final notes. Considering this was our introduction to the band, we didn’t quite know what to expect, however they’ve simply blown us away, and we can’t wait for everyone to crank this up and get listening as soon as possible.
On the background of the track, the band claims, “‘Simulated Life’ deals with the confusion of vividly experiencing people we’ve lost while in semi- or unconscious states”. While this might seem like a unique situation to be in, in our opinion, it feels all too common in a fast-paced environment, especially those with fleeting acquaintances coming in and out. While the song certainly is brimming with these contextual themes, what Horse Doctor has done best is pivot their previous sounds to evoke an immense amount of vulnerability that ends in a cascading wall of sound. Through five minutes of continual growth and pushing the envelope, “Simulated Life’ closes out on this borderline spiritual feeling that keeps going even when the song has ended.
What the band claims is easily one of their most emotional songs yet, it’s hard to deny that considering we ended our listen with our collective jaws basically on the floor. Nowadays it’s so incredibly difficult for music to make us feel anything, and as sad as that might sound, it’s music like this that legitimately rebuilds our faith in something being original. In a slightly different vein, Horse Doctor is on a new path of experimenting with AI-generated imagery to create a music video to further promote the track. We’ve got no clue what that might look like, but it’s 100% piqued our interest once it’s all finished up!
