Harvey Bruce debuts his incredibly catchy new single, "DREAMS DO(NT) COME TRUE"
Review by Austin Sher
Here with an incredibly catchy new single is Harvey Bruce with the release of “DREAMS DO(NT) COME TRUE”. What a fantastic song! Read along with us for our full review, in addition some insight on the artist himself.
For those that aren’t aware, Harvey Bruce is a Brooklyn, New York based independent artist and bedroom composer. He came to the city from a small town in Upstate New York with the hope he could make it as an artist and composer. He struggled for a number of years working as an executive assistant, telemarketer, sales associate for a marketing agency until he found his dream "day job" as a composer/music supervisor for tv & film. Starting with drum lessons when he was 11, he slowly introduced new instruments to his toolkit until he decided it was time to try his hand at engineering and producing his own music 6 years ago.
He's also heavily inspired by the 90s era garage-alt. rock glory days of bands including Weezer, The Pixies and Blur. However his interest in hybrid artists like Oliver Tree and The 1975 has inspired him to branch out to try new things. These days though, he’s acting as a digital artist only. He played in the NYC music scene for years and got tired of all the rigmarole associated with playing a gig, much of which has nothing to do with playing music (i.e. promoting shows, working with venues, booking other bands, selling tickets, etc.). At the end of the day, he really just wants to make music and get as many people to listen to it as possible. He’s currently using his influence to motivate people to make climate change and social activism a focus of their life. Global warming is a cause deeply important to him, as it is to us.
In addition to the artist being a fantastic person and caring about the important things in life that actually matter, he’s also an incredibly talented artist. We want to make it as clear as possible, we absolutely loved this song. We know you will too, but at least let us express our joy. The initial impressions we got were just how perfectly upbeat it started out as. The slow introductions of the keys to the inevitable synthesizers reminiscent of organs were just perfect.
It’s quite obvious that Harvey’s vocal delivery is the highlight of the song, but we’d be upset if we failed to mention the inventive bass lines that were included as well. They’ll get you moving and grooving to the beat immediately. Looking at his musical influences and it’s not really a surprise at all that everything turned out so well. The right influences are there and the combination of them all really created a fantastic song here.
With this all being said, it’s about time that you stop reading this article and get listening! For all things Harvey Bruce, to listen to his music, and to keep up with all future news, please check out the following links below.
