Guthrie Galileo lets loose a stunner on diverse single, "Tender"
Off his newest EP Balladeer, Guthrie Galileo has something special on his hands with “Tender”. Please read on for our full review of this fantastic track, as well as a background on the talented artist.
Latin-inspired on the percussion but wholly inventive on all other levels, Guthrie Galileo’s “Tender” is a masterclass on how to structure a catchy song. What follows the complex process of grieving in its message is perfectly accompanied by beauty in every other sense. It’s got all the elements of a song we’d consider to be great and we sincerely can’t wait for everyone reading this to click the play button.
As mentioned, this is part of a larger record called Balladeer that we also recommend checking out, but if you listen to just one thing, it must be “Tender”. After listening to the EP in full, we came to the confident conclusion that this is the type of sound we’d like to see Guthrie further expand on in the future. Lyrically he’s knocked it out of the park and fully painted a picture of his grief and healing, but sonically he’s diversified himself and allowed so many outside elements to create this complex sounding single.
With help from Billy Weaver on saxophone and an original drum sample from Jake Mayers, they delicately added so many important layers to Guthrie’s overall sound. As a whole, the production stands out the most because the clarity and conciseness adds that depth for a listener to fully focus on what’s going on. There’s a denseness in how much music is being presented to you, but what’s important is the mixing has allowed for everyone to get their certain moment to shine on “Tender”. Legitimately we’ve got no complaints and we almost don’t want to spoil anymore before you give it a listen.
All that being said, Guthrie’s dynamic sound is not to be missed or forgotten. There’s so many other worthy gems on Balladeer that deserve a listen too, but “Tender” is definitely the stand out of the bunch. Do yourselves a favor whenever you may be reading this and please check out the links below to listen, follow along, and stay tuned for what’s undoubtedly going to be a massive year from Guthrie Galileo.
