Grayhunter come roaring back with a fiery new single, "Waves"

With their first official release since their 2018 EP, Grayhunter are back with an absolutely rocking new single, “Waves”. Read along with us as we share our complete thoughts on the track, as well as a background on the band as well.

Currently based out of New York City, Grayhunter are doing things a bit different within their overall sound. Featuring different genres for different tracks, we happened to have fallen in love with the newest output on “Waves”. Taking the listeners on an emotional roller coaster that is addiction is what you’ll hear lyrically, but the entire package is worth tuning into.

Having played all over the great New York area at venues such as The Knitting Factory, Arlene’s Grocery, and plenty more, the band are finally back and on the way to putting out their second EP. We can only assume that “Waves” is the lead single for the latest record, which has us unbelievably excited to see what all they come up with as soon as it sees its release. If this is any indication though, fans old and new are in for a massive treat.

As mentioned, “Waves” is meant for the listener to see the world through the eyes of someone with addiction who is struggling with it in the hopes that they can empathize. On this song the lyrics certainly hit deep and are the mainstay of the song and its message. However the hard hitting instrumentals that back up the words are what rounds it the best. Soaring guitar riffs, inventive bass lines, and a whole lot of drums are what you can expect on this one.

While the instrumentation stands out, there’s no way we’d be able to get through this without directly mentioning the vocals. Prepare for your jaws to collectively drop as you make it through this near five minute thriller of a track. The lead singer puts on an absolute clinic in emotional and commanding delivery that should literally make singers of all genres filled with jealousy.

Being so impressed by just one song was something that we weren’t expecting, but with that being said, we’re now going to assign ourselves some “musical homework” and get digging into their debut EP, Comeback Kid, to really see what this band is all about. As the second EP takes shape, it’ll be nice to be tied over with a whole lot of Grayhunter as we patiently wait.

It should probably go without saying at this point, but this is obviously a single and a band that we are highly recommending you get on as soon as possible. We’ve provided all the important links below for you to listen and follow along, don’t miss out!
