Asset Music crafts up a nostalgic new single, "Shine On"
With the release of his second single of the year and fourth overall, Asset Music is back in a massive way with a new track, “Shine On”. Please read along with us as we share our thoughts on the latest music, as well as a background on this talented artist as well.
For those unaware, Asset Music is the work of independent singer, songwriter, and producer, Will Goodchild. Currently working in his studio outside of London, his particular brand of music is a unique blend of early 90’s indie rock and British pop with influences ranging from The Stone Roses, Oasis, Shed Seven, and more. He’s managed to create what might be his best yet on “Shine On”.
Born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, Asset Music was formed after the consistent frustrations from the lockdown life. In a good way though, it inspired WIll to get back to writing and creating, with the eventual release of original music. In even better news though, he’s in the midst of putting a live band together for the return of shows. Please make your first stop Los Angeles so we can watch!
In all seriousness though, “Shine On” was a lovely representation of all that is right within the indie rock and pop scene. Throwing it back to that definite feel of the 90’s was more than present within this near four minute track, but in the best way possible. It evoked a real sense of nostalgia for the bands that we love and the ones that have influenced this artist.
As we mentioned, this appears to be only the fourth officially released track under the guise of Asset Music. However, after listening repeatedly to all of the tracks, we think this might just be the best yet. We’re not quite sure what it is, or what driving force makes us feel that way, but there’s an extra special sense of sincerity and genuineness that is exuding from this single. The way that Will delicately delivers each line could be it, or even the nuanced instrumentation, but whatever it is is a true delight.
Our obvious hopes here are that the artist continues to put out stellar singles just like this one, but even better would be a full EP or full length album to really craft up a cohesive sound that he’s already put together. We’re also super interested to see how the live shows turn out. We can only imagine the difficulties of getting together a band at the moment given the circumstances, but it’ll definitely be worth it for all when they’re on stage rocking out to the music.
With all that being said, do yourselves a favor and make sure to check out “Shine On” as it's a real treat for the lovers of this genre. Make sure to stay tuned as well for more releases by clicking all of the links below. Enjoy!
