Gigi Santos kicks back on sensational single, "Take It Slow"
An absolute vibe from start to finish, Gigi Santos has slowed things down a bit on her spectacular single “Take It Slow”. Read on for our glowing review of the track, in addition to an update on the artist.
For those who are somehow still out of the loop, Gigi Santos is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter currently based out of New York. Further evolving her already significant sound, she’s created a slow jam titled “Take It Slow” that is seriously hypnotizing both vocally and lyrically from start to finish. Self-described as “sensual, yet appealingly melancholy”, we couldn’t agree more, and we honestly can’t wait for everyone out there to hit the play button immediately.
We’ve been proponents of Gigi’s music for quite some time now, so it’s no surprise we’ve got to recommend this one right out of the gate. However, the entire package and aura of the single speaks for itself on many levels. Her sound historically has always embodied an R&B style to it, but “Take It Slow” has leaned in even more and managed to blow out our already high expectations. Vocally she’s hitting highs and making her voice more dynamic, but lyrically she’s emboldening on the listener to kick back and enjoy life as it comes. The song has that classic 90’s feel to it, but also plenty of modern touches in the production.
It’s already been mentioned, but this song really is a vibe and has a certain confidence to it that’s almost difficult to explain on some level. It takes a certain type of artist to be able to pull off a song of this caliber and we think Gigi has over delivered in terms of its success. It’s a word we don’t often use, but any other artist without swagger couldn’t deliver the lyrics the same way or with similar passion. Her music is unique to the name and it’s why we’ll continue to hype her up when she puts out instant classics just like these.
