future.exboyfriend detail a niche experience on upbeat track, "Molly"
Upbeat and poppy from start to finish, we’ve quickly fallen in love with future.exboyfriend’s newest single, “Molly”. Please read on for a closer look at the track, as well as a much needed background on the band.
Currently representing the music scene in Salt Lake City, Utah, future.exboyfriend are an indie pop project who have made a swift return into 2022 with a total banger, “Molly”. With the background surrounding ‘falling in love” with a stranger at a music festival, we’re not ashamed to say how utterly relatable that experience and sentiment is. The song itself is a masterclass in production and composition, which is why we’ve got to overwhelmingly recommend a listen and exploration of the band’s music.
Serving as a preview to the future.exboyfriend’s upcoming record High at the Gym, they’re already upping our hype levels with what’s looking to be a fantastic album. Now we don’t have a specific date of its release, but we’ll make sure to update when that information becomes available. Shifting focus to “Molly” though, the group has delicately created these layers of sound and complexity that really do act as ear candy for the soul. We’re suckers for some voice modulation when done correctly and they’ve really exceeded our expectations in creating a groove too. While the track certainly hinges on a niche experience, it really does transcend music festivals as well. We feel like you’d be lying to yourself if you said you hadn’t fallen in love with someone you’ve never spoken to before, let alone knew their name. It’s human nature and this song so eloquently sums up that situation.
Considering this was our introduction to their music as a whole, it’s safe to say that they’ve impressed us with this output. Prior to the new record, we’ll definitely be doing a deep dive on the rest of their discography and are urging everyone else out there to do just the same.
