Staying incredibly consistent with their 5th single release of 2022, BHōpFul is back with a new one titled “Who I Are?”. Read on for an in-depth review of this track, as well as a much needed background on this emerging artist.

Keeping things generally minimalistic on the instrumentation side and focusing heavily on deep and meaningful lyricism, BHōpFul has made a quick return with a new one called “Who I Are?”. While it certainly feels like a song rooted in R&B, there’s so many genre explorations and elements that show themselves here to really result in a complex sounding single. To be honest, this was our initial introduction to the artist, but he’s blown us away with his musicianship and aim to create a well-rounded and layered song.

On the background of it all, “Who I Are?” aims to dive into “a darker realm questioning self identity in a chaotic world”. So much of this song shifts the listener’s focus to the lyrics, and for good reason, because honestly he’s painted a picture from beginning to end. He challenges you to connect the dots within his specific life experience, all the while vibing out with an atmospheric backing. With help on the instrumental from producer Joe Summers, the two have collaborated and executed something here that’s extremely versatile and heartfelt. We’re always partial to songs like this that feel vulnerable, especially when it’s someone you’re unfamiliar with. It must be so difficult for an artist of any kind to open up to an audience, but especially when they don’t know him.

While we’ve yet to dip our toes into the rest of his quickly growing discography, we’re already etching out time in our schedule to do so. The sonic nature of “Who i Are?” was inviting enough and had that relaxed feeling that we’re looking for in our personal tastes. Although for an artist who’s just at the beginning of their career and willing to experiment, we also hope that BHōpFul continues on in this calming space of lyric-heavy music for those to break down and dissect. If you’re just being introduced to his music, we highly recommend a listen as soon as possible.
