Firebug craft a nostalgic feel on single, "Run"
Out on February 22nd, 2021, Firebug have put out their absolutely rocking first single of the year, “Run”. Do yourselves a huge favor and read along with us for our full featured review of the track, as well as a background on the band.
Signed to Spectra Records, Firebug have been making a big name for themselves for quite some time now. Having shared stages with some of the greats such as Iron Maiden, Iggy Pop, and Tom Morello, they’re injecting their own personal flair of sound onto a modern rock base, fused with 70’s rock, grunge, blues, and folk rock. However you’d like to describe it, just know that we’re loving it.
We’d love to kick off this review of “Run” by confidently telling the reader that this is the next song you need to be listening to. Filled with every element of rock and roll that we personally love, Firebug have managed to carve out their own niche and add their own uniqueness to not overdo a common sound. Creating something “new” in rock is becoming more and more difficult, however what they’ve accomplished here is nothing short of impressive in every definition of the word.
For those unaware, Firebug are made up of band members Juliette Tworsey (Lead Vocal Rhythm Guitar), Jules Shapiro (Lead Guitar/Slide Guitar), Adam Levy (Bass), and Ty Dennis (Drums). Now while there’s only four members, the absolute grand and massive sound they’re creating within all of their music sounds like it’s coming from a band of 10. Each talented in their own right, their music is begging to be witnessed in a live setting. As our collective hopes for live music are getting brighter by the day, we hope that one day soon we’ll be witnessing “Run” in person. The pure and vintage instrumentation is begging to be displayed to an audience, especially the rich opening that sets the stage for the rest of the song.
We really don’t want this to read like we’re overhyping, but at the same time, we’re not. These are true and meaningful words that we’re hoping will convince you the reader to hit that play button we’ve included at the bottom of this single review. While you’re at it though, you might as well check out the rest of their discography, because it is just as good. You can hear the evolution of sound for sure, but it’s still got that signature Firebug flair to it.
With all this being said though, our praise could not be higher. Do yourselves that favor we mentioned and dig into this. It’s sure to transport you back into better times and also give hope for a better future. Enjoy!
