Fire In Her Eyes debut their acoustic psych-pop single, "People of the Sun"

Review by Austin Sher

Released on July 10, 2020, Fire In Her Eyes have just released their fantastic 60’s inspired new single, “People of the Sun”. Read along with us as we give an in-depth review into what we thought of the song, as well as a bit of background on the band themselves.

Fire In Her Eyes are an all-girl, three-piece band from London who make catchy, psychedelic music influenced by pop, rock, folk and soul. The band consists of Daniella and Natasha who are sisters, along with their lifelong best friend, Gabrielle. Together they’ve been writing songs from a young age, which was the foundation for their cohesive and special musical chemistry. The trio have formed a melting pot of influences; think 60s meets 70s brewed into a brand new sound of their own. Their core line up comprises vocals, keys, bass, drums and guitar.

They’re currently making serious waves within the music industry, as they recently have had radio play on BBC Radio 1, Radio X, Radio Caroline, BBC Asian Network, WFMU, Soho Radio, Planet Rock, Resonance FM and Amazing Radio. This is all with obvious good reason, as we are truly loving what we heard on “People of the Sun”.  According to Fire In Her Eyes, “People of the Sun” calls out to those who seek a deeper understanding of life. An awakening to the beauty that surrounds us. Fire In Her Eyes embody their inner sirens with majestic three-part harmonies that embellish the ancient psychedelic soundscape they create.”

Now that we’ve familiarized ourselves a bit with the band, it’s time to dig into the music. Right off the bat, the calming and serene acoustic guitar washes over your ears. It’s not too long until all members of the band join in a three-part harmony that was reminiscent of angels singing. Honestly, from start to finish on this track, it gave us goosebumps and shivers as to how crisp sounding it was.

The instrumentals on the single are fairly stripped back, but in a way that allows for the vocals to really be the center of attention. It took the calmer parts of traditional psychedelic music and configured them in the best way possible. Overall the track was quite inventive of using the vocals as an instrument. Considering it’s mainly the acoustic guitar featured on the track, there doesn’t leave much else to be focused on other than their sweet sounding voices. Based off this particular single, they’ve created fans for life. We really enjoyed what we heard and can’t wait to see what will be released next from the band.
