Cleveland, Ohio’s own, Filler, are back with their first single since April, titled “Pocket Change”. Read along with us as we give an in-depth review into the new track, as well as a bit of background on the band and what they’ve been up to.

Before we take you on our musical journey through “Pocket Change”, you should probably familiarize with your next favorite indie band. Filler is a four piece, high energy, indie rock band recognizable through its dance-along bass line and soaring vocal melodies. The group debuted at the Cleveland Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame High School Rock-Off in 2018, qualifying for the finals among a nationwide field and earning enthusiastic fan support. Since then, Filler has played over 25 venues and events in the Cleveland area. With an eclectic playlist of originals, Filler draws a multi-generational fan base from college students to mature rockers who are faithful followers of this dynamic band.

Very clearly, the band is making waves throughout the music industry, and we’re glad we found them when we did. Their most recent single, “Piece Of You”, was also a fantastic track, but that’s not what this is about. We’re here to tell you why you should drop what you’re doing and check out this band, because we were immediately taken aback after listening.

“Pocket Change” is just the summer indie rock track we were looking for. An instant hook with the opening guitar solo, then slowly introduced to the grand vocals, followed by an emotional message. We loved what we heard and we can’t wait for a full length release, hopefully coming soon. The song is definitely anthemic, in that we can absolutely picture ourselves on the rail at a Filler show singing along with a sea of concert goers, singing the lyrics right back to them. I would for sure categorize it as straightforward indie rock, but with a nice pop twist that keeps it original and replayable. All in all, we truly enjoyed what we heard and it went on all of our summer playlists as soon as the track finished up.
