WWAM: First off, Erin, how are you doing today, how’s life been treating you?
Erin: I'm doing great thank you for asking, hope you are. Life is good just working on projects for music and acting.
WWAM: Well I’m really excited to be talking to you about this single. I want to dig right into the lyrics as they feel quite introspective. Can you please give a background on them?
Erin: Yes! "A little Bit of Blue" is a great song about seeing the color blue differently than how most see it for being sad. Blue is my favorite color and makes me happy so I wanted to share that with the listeners.
WWAM: The production on the song is fantastic from start to finish, it’s clean, succinct, and has allowed for your vocals to flourish within the mixing. Do you do all of your production, do you have help putting together the final pieces?
Erin: Oh gosh I have help, lots of help! The most I did was help in the writing and singing it. I left the producing up to my amazing producer Sean Rogers from Hey World Productions in Nashville, TN.
WWAM: Not necessarily on this single, but in the grand scheme of everything you’ve created so far, what are you trying to accomplish overall?
Erin: Sending a positive message and to inspire listeners, Putting lyrics out there that don't include cursing or shaming anyone. So much of today's music can be harsh and with how things are in our world we have a more positive message.
WWAM: Are you going to be looking to experiment on future tracks?
Erin: I am always open to new things. Currently I have started dabbling in Christian music so I am excited about that. Having a fun country song with a rap collaboration would be awesome.
WWAM: Do you model your music in a way after some of your musical inspirations?
Erin: I guess so. I'm an old soul. I love the oldies like Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton but then I love current artists like Lauren Daigle, Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood.
WWAM: Were there key artists or specific albums in your life that inspired you to take this path as a musician?
Erin: Working on the set of two Dolly Parton movies was an inspiration. Singing poolside with Dolly's sister Stella & the cast was inspiring. I love hearing old country songs and who they have developed over the years.
WWAM: What’s your process? How do you go about creating a song?
Erin: I've only just started writing. My team is amazing. I journal my thoughts or whatever I am going through, then we kind of pick it apart to make a song.
WWAM: So tell me this, what do you enjoy the most about being an artist and creative?
Erin: I love expressing myself and inspiring listeners. When fams tell me my song made them feel better during a difficult time it's truly the best compliment and why I do what I do.
WWAM: What does your music say about you?
Erin: I do my best to be positive and sing about things that are relatable to listeners. It's important that people hear a good message from my songs.
WWAM: Trying to tour in any capacity this year?
Erin: I hope so, it's all up to my management team at Circle 11 and what we are able to do. It certainly is the goal.
WWAM: What’s a favorite song of yours to perform?
Erin: That is a hard question because I love them all, but my new release "Alittle Bit of Blue" is pretty special.
WWAM: What are some goals, musical or not, you’ve set for yourself in 2021.
Erin: I want to start college classes. COVID kind of offset that plan last year so its a goal for this year. I obviously want to write more songs.
WWAM: Lastly, what message would you like to pass off to the first time listener of music? Where can they find your music and is there anything else they can look forward to?
Erin: I hope a new listener enjoys my music whether they are just looking to be inspired or to get up and dance around the room. Just be you and have fun! Hopefully I will book a project soon, sending in lots of auditions!
