Erath Old looks to a brighter future on debut album, "Sooner Or Later"
Sharing an incredibly eclectic collection of songs on his debut record called Sooner Or Later, Erath Old has definitely delivered on all the musical fronts. Please read on for our in-depth look at the album, in addition to a background on the artist.
Erath Old (pronounced Air-Rith), is from the small town of Hueytown, Alabama where his life has consistently been ingrained with music. Since a young age he’s been playing and creating, but finally that passion has manifested into a full album of songs that touch on Erath’s personal life experiences and how he’s coped with helping himself. Needless to say, this is a record we are highly recommending to all the country music fans out there.
Influenced by artists like John Cougar Mellencamp, Black Hawk, Garth Brooks, and so many more, Erath Old has taken those sounds and put his own spin on a signature style that is helping him to break the mold of a crowded genre. In today’s country music landscape, it feels as though there’s a little too much genre blending going on in order to hit all the markets, however on Sooner Or Later, it’s a pretty clean cut mix of country and rock that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. Songs like “Don’t Go” and “Waiting” are clear examples of what to do when making music.
While the instrumentation side of things stayed inventive yet classic, Erath’s vocals are what stood out to us the most. They’ve got that nostalgic country twang to them, but when you listen a little bit closer, there’s also a sincerity in the message he’s sharing that makes the listener want to focus a little bit harder. So much of the lyricism presented here is about following the sober path and making right within his life, so we know how difficult it must have been to relive those traumas while writing this record.
At 8 songs and right around 27 minutes in run time, Sooner Or Later is an impeccably strong debut output from an artist we can’t wait to follow along with into his further releases. Until that time though, please go ahead and check out those important links below where you can listen, follow along, and keep up with everything Erath Old.
