Fresh off the release of her absolutely stellar debut EP Eighteen, we got the special opportunity to sit and speak with the artist behind the music, Emilia Vaughn! Check out our full interview below.

Currently based out of San Diego, California, Emilia Vaughn is an alternative pop singer and songwriter who’s clearly put her all into the creation of her first ever record, Eighteen. Now the owner of her own independent music label, Emilia Vaughn Entertainment and Media Group, she’s shared her first ever piece that is filled with rich production, innovative composition, but ultimately led by her dynamic vocals that set the tone and raise the stakes for all future projects. We’ve loved our multiple listens and cannot wait for everyone out there to give this a spin.

Taking cues from the world around her and translating those life experiences into meaningful lyrics and deep themes, the entirety of Eighteen gives listeners a look into the complexities that Emilia endured while growing up. Through five songs and right around fifteen minutes in length, you enter her journey on “Sunflower” where she sets the stage of what’s to come, but the rest of the record almost acts as a rollercoaster ride through her situations, peaks and valleys, and mental health struggles. A major standout for us was just how incredibly well rounded the album is as it’s not just all shiny production and catchy hooks, rather an extremely vulnerable look into a stranger’s life.

As a writer of poetry and now multi-instrumentalist, the culmination of Eighteen has become this super relatable living and breathing art piece. We do feel that a majority of listeners who actively make the connections within her words will find a metaphorical shoulder to lean on and know that they’re not alone in what they’re experiencing. Of course, during our conversation with Emilia, she thankfully broke down all the elements as to what exactly inspired these individual songs, we got an in-depth look on how she managed to produce this beauty, and so many other hard hitting topics that are not worth missing!

For a young artist like herself, it’s a debut that’s going to be difficult to top, but we’re fully here for the ride and looking forward to seeing how it plays out on future projects.
