Elyse Aeryn hits all the right notes on her latest single, "Salt"

Released yesterday on September 4th, 2020, Elyse Aeryn’s latest single “Salt” has officially debuted! Do yourself a huge favor and read along with us for our full review of the track, in addition to background on the artist herself.
Currently based out of the East Coast of Canada, Aeryn took a traditional career path into chemical engineering before answering her soul’s calling in her late 20s. After releasing a handful of country inspired singles, Aeryn discovered her own sound with Logic Pro X, best defined within the alternative and indie pop space. Some accolades to date include a spot in the CBC Searchlight 2020 Top 100, in addition to her currently being a participant in the Jim Beam National Talent Search.
“Salt” is the first single from an upcoming five track EP, written and produced by Aeryn on her home island of Cape Breton, NS. The project is a personal reinvention, inspired by coming home, the Atlantic ocean, and a spiritual awakening. “Salt” is your end of summer heartbreak anthem. Energetic in its hard hitting drums, yet steady in the bass line, it builds you up then lets you fall... just like a fiery summer love.
One of the first things you’ll notice in the song is just how wonderfully produced it is. Honestly, production can really make or break a song, and it always helps to be able to hear everything that’s happening in the background. With that being said, Aeryn absolutely nailed it with the sound of the track; the layered vocals, the succinct drumming, and the constant highs make for a beautiful sounding song.
It’s no surprise here that Aeryn’s vocal delivery is the standout though. As fantastic as the instrumental is, the vocals are really what sets it apart from any other indie pop song being put out these days. Without giving too much away, because we very obviously want to listen for yourselves, we’re big fans of what we heard and we highly encourage you to take the time to listen.
While this was our first foray into the music of Elyse Aeryn, it should be of no surprise that we had to go and listen to the rest of her discography as soon as “Salt” finished. There’s plenty of gold, you’ve just got to take the time to listen!
